Hello Yogis & Energetic Beings! My name is Leah Richards and I am the Yoga Instructor, Massage Therapist (more info coming soon), Reiki Master, Tarot/Oracle Card Reader, Etsy Shoppe Owner, & Content Creator. You name it I do it or attempt to do it to the best of my ability, but enough about me you. You are probably here to see what qualifies me to do all all of the services and things that I claim I can do.

Let’s go back about 12 years ago, I was just barely an adult at 18 years old, and I had made the decision to attend one yoga class. It was a Yin Yoga Class to solely start to work on the stress I was experiencing from starting college. It was Tuesdays at 7:30pm at the local park district and I was just so relaxed that I had to go back every single week. This was a constant staple in my life throughout my time at community college and into transferring to a four year university. I finished and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in history.

During my time at NIU (Northern Illinois University) I started to look for jobs in the Political Science field, primarily in the education field. I wanted to be an 8th grade government teacher. Once I started looking around I realized that there were no jobs. So, I took a step back and thought what do I do. At the time a close family friend said why not teach yoga? And, I had to take a step back and think about what did I want to do? I just spent the last almost 3 years on a career path I was now figuring out would not work for a career. Let’s just say I was frustrated.

Within this frustration I had a family friend suggest why not look into teaching yoga. This idea caught me off guard due, but the more I thought about it the more I really enjoyed the idea. Fast forward a few month and visited Corepower Yoga, took two classes back to back, thought I was going to die, but knew this is what I needed to do. So, I put down the deposit for the teacher training and 15-20 weeks later I became a certified yoga instructor. A year and a half later I enrolled in the Therapeutic Massage Program at Waubonsee Community College and in 2016 I became a licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Illinois. During the crazy storm of trying to figure out my career path I got Reiki attuned (to a master level) by Sandra Coyner from Aurora, IL. So, my life took a complete 180 within a matter of months.

Fast Forward to 2020 the year where life ended as we now know it. COVID-19 hit and the stay at home order hit. Yoga stopped, Massages ended, my entire career was essentially ripped away from me from something that was out of my control. So, I thought how can I work with this? To evolve with the times I have decided to turn my entire yoga class/studio to a virtual studio. All classes, workshops, and events are online for the foreseeable future. So, I can truly connect with yogis from anywhere and everywhere. Which is all I could have ever ask for.

I feel so fortunate and lucky to be able to do what I do, connect with people from across the globe. All I truly ever wanted was to show that anyone and everyone can do yoga. You truly just need to be able to breathe and guess what you can do yoga. Hope to see you in class soon!
